April 2026 Construction Update
What’s Happened So Far?
· The front drive has been completed making it easier to get into and out of the building at the Whitesburg Lobby entrance.
· We contracted with Dunlap Construction to do the work. They came in with the lowest bid and we have worked with them before.
· Construction to repurpose the gym and expand the gym lobbies is underway.
· The HVAC system in the south wing is being upgraded. For the foreseeable future, that wing is unavailable for Sunday and Wednesday gatherings. The bathrooms in that wing are still accessible. Sunday adult classes will be combined and meet in the auditorium. Sunday youth classes will meet in the Mercy Building. Wednesday WeConnect classes will continue to meet in their current locations, but may change in the near future.
What’s Next?
· A lot of waiting. And dust. And noise.
· Once the new Children’s Center and expanded gym lobbies are completed, construction will begin on the children’s entrance and nursery lobbies and the north entrance.
What Can I Do to Help?
· Pray. Pray that we can navigate the inconveniences with grace and patience. That we will emerge from this season with deeper faith, stronger unity and a greater commitment to pass on our faith to the next generation. For the safety of the workers who partner with us and that we can use this as an opportunity to share our faith.
· If you have not made a pledge to the Flourish Campaign, we would love an opportunity to share the details and answer any questions.
· One more time – pray!
Flourish Projects Update (January, 2026)
At the end of 2024, we launched a three-year capital campaign to raise funds to repurpose our gym into a dedicated children’s center, expand our lobbies to create more welcoming gathering spaces, pave a front drive for easier access into the building and to enclose the north-end stairwell.
Psalm 115:14 perfectly captures the goal of this campaign: May the Lord cause you to flourish, both you and your children. We want to do all we can to help this generation and especially the next generation to flourish in faith.
Our hope was to raise $3.5 million in pledges and donations. But through God’s grace and your generosity, we pledged $4,177, 693! What a testimony to Twickenham’s commitment to the future!
What’s Happened So Far?
· The front drive has been completed. No more uphill climbs for guests or members with mobility limitations. Please note that the drive is one way from north to south and that some of the accessible parking spots have been moved to the west parking lot.
· Three contractors offered sealed bids on the project and were reviewed by they Business Council. Dunlap Construction came in with the lowest bid and the shortest construction time frame. We have partnered with Dunlap in the past and have always been pleased with their integrity and the quality of their work.
What’s Next?
· Construction on the gym and the gym and adult education lobbies is slated to begin February 9th. Once construction starts, the gym entrance will no longer be accessible. The gym, the gym lobby and the second-floor coffee bar will be closed.
· To access the elevator, members and guests may enter the South entrance drive- through or the children’s entrance. It might be easier to use the new front drive for drop-offs.
· On January 28th, there will be a pre-construction meeting with the architects, Dunlap Construction and their sub-contractors.
What Can I Do to Help?
· First and foremost, pray. Pray that we can navigate the inconveniences of construction with grace and patience. Pray that we will emerge from this season with deeper faith, stronger unity and a greater commitment to pass our faith on to the next generation.
Pray for the safety of the workers who partner with us in these projects and that if they are not Christians, we can make the most of this opportunity to share our faith.
· If you have not yet made a pledge to the campaign, we would love an opportunity to share the details of the plans and answer any questions you have.
· One more time – PRAY!
