Anticipation
Have you ever heard of a child who said, "Wow! Christmas really snuck up on me this year." No. Christmas never catches kids by surprise. They live in anticipation of it as soon as they come down from the post Halloween sugar high. What would happen if you and I lived anticipatory lives? Joy. Joy would happen.
Jailhouse Joy
This will sound counter-intuitive – but if you have something you are willing to die for, you can have joy no matter what. The most liberating thing in the world is to become indifferent to death.
Locally Sourced Joy
In prison awaiting a sentence that could have included death, Paul was filled with joy. Why? Lots of reasons. But one of the biggest was this: He had people to love and people who loved him.
Where’s the Joy?
We begin a new series from the book of Philippians today – Whatever: Joy No Matter What. Fun is good. Joy is better. Fun is about what’s happening to you. Joy is about what’s happening in you. In today’s lesson, we’ll learn the true location of real joy.
Bridging the Gaps
Want an inside look at Twickenham? This week, Jody unpacks the results from a recent congregational survey.
Frozen by Fear
In certain situations, such as encounters with snakes, sharks or those survey takes are the mall, fear is a good thing. But it’s a terrible way to live. In fact, fear can keep you from going deeper with God.
Running on Empty

Perhaps the reason we do not hear the voice of God is not because he is too busy to speak. Maybe we are too busy to listen.

Commitment
They say Hernan Cortes burned his ships when he landed at Vera Cruz, Mexico in 1519. That’s why, even though he was vastly outnumbered, he was able to defeat the Aztecs and claim Mexico for Spain. But he didn’t actually burn his ships. He pushed them into the harbor and sank them. Either way, it’s called commitment.
Closer
If you want to go deeper with God get closer to people.

Why Our Members Chose Twickenham

I felt strangely at home right away. Felt peace, love, acceptance and grace. . . They smiled at me, said hi, welcomed me: all with a great sense of sincerity.

I saw a new approach to worship and I felt God like I hadn’t for a while. It didn’t take me more than a few Sundays for me to feel at home.

I felt like it gave me the best opportunity to bring a non-believer or wayward believer with a different background or religious upbringing and them feel at home and interested in reconnecting with God or maybe connecting for the first time.
