Faith in HD: God Is ...

A. W. Tozer wrote, “The history of mankind will probably show that no people has ever risen above its religion, and spiritual history will positively demonstrate that no religion has ever been greater than its idea of God.” In this series, we will seek to raise our concept of God to higher definition.

God Is ... In Control
Many of the things we do start with the push of a button, the click of a mouse, the turn of a wheel or the press of a pedal. We have an enormous amount of control right at our fingertips. Until the power goes out. Or the computer freezes. Or the engine dies. Control, for us, is always provisional and temporary. Not for God. His control is unconditional and eternal. And that’s good news. Here’s why . ., (additional Bible verses used: James 4:15, Job 42:2, Psalms 115:3, Proverbs 16:33, Daniel 4:24-25, Proverbs 16:32, Jeremiah 3:7, Jeremiah 2:30, Matthew 23:37.
God is ... Everywhere
You can cross a continent in less time than it took our ancestors to ride into town. Video telephony technologies like FaceTime or Skype put us in the “presence” of a loved one or business associate immediately. And our smartphones make us ubiquitously available. It’s almost like we have overcome all space/time limitations. Except we haven’t. We can still only be in one place at a time. God, however, is different. He’s everywhere. All the time.
God is ... Different
There are certain things that are common to all human societies. We all tell and laugh at jokes – at least until we are married, (after which wives don’t find their husbands near as humorous). In every society, people are afraid of snakes, but not of flowers. We all have a word for pain. We all play with toys. We all take turns. We are, it seems, remarkably similar. But God isn’t like us. God is . . . different. Additional passages: Leviticus 20:26, 1 Peter 1:15-16, Romans 3:10-11

Why Our Members Chose Twickenham

This church is a positive, progressive body of believers who accept the normal diversity which exists in any church without trying to force some conformity and/or uniformity of belief or practices based on tradition, opinions, and preferences. Sadly, that is not the norm and thus you may be viewed as "different" by other churches or believers. I view such a difference as a great positive.

The diversity of thought that allows for tolerance of opinion with agreement on the basics of the gospel. The number of missions-minded individuals that are in involved in both foreign and domestic/local ministries.

This church has a large number of very talented members who appear to be highly involved and connected to all aspects of the church body. This church is at a prime location with many talented members and great opportunity to serve this community and beyond.
